Encore! Music Camps
New this summer…Encore! music camps are for singers entering grades 2-4 and 5-9.
SESSION 1
For singers entering grades 2-4
July 7-11; 9:30-11:30
If you’re a fan of last summer’s Mini MTW program, you’ll recognize much of this program as Encore! music camp for singers entering grades 2-4. Liz Shepley and choreographer Jana Schomburg will work together to help singers build music skills through games, movement, and songs. Encore is a great way for kids to explore their interest in music and dance in a supportive, non-auditioned atmosphere. The week ends with a performance for friends and family followed by a pool party!
Cost: The cost is $70, which includes a cool camp t-shirt! A $20 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot; balance due on or before the first day of camp. Scholarships are available; for more information, contact the NYC office.
SESSION 2
For singers entering grades 5-9
Aug 17-22: Orientation begins Sunday, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.; Monday - Friday, 9-5 p.m.
Encore! for singers entering grades 5-9 is for anyone who wants to improve vocal and musical skills, make new friends, and try something new! The week’s rehearsals and activities will challenge participants in a non-auditioned, supportive atmosphere, leaving plenty of time for swimming and fun in the sun. In addition to choral singing, your singer will build skills in dance/movement, stage presence, musicianship and Orff-Schulwerk (music-making and with a wide variety of percussion instruments). Encore! artistic staff will include Liz Shepley, Jana Schomburg, Melodi Van Roekel, Rachel Haider and others. Singers should bring a sack lunch and swimwear; a daily snack will be provided. A mid-week field trip includes a trip to the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul and water fun at Cascade Park in Eagan. The week concludes with a performance for friends and family on Friday afternoon. Encore singers also will perform the Star Spangled Banner at a Twins game in the Metrodome on the evening of September 9–families welcome!
Cost: The cost is $210, which includes field trip admissions, transportation and one Twins ticket for each participant. (Additional tickets will be available for families to purchase.)
