Concert Choir, for singers primarily in grades 7 – 9, continues to develop music reading, ear training, and performing skills, while providing increasingly challenging music for treble, changing, and changed voices. The group has performed in the twin cities and greater Minnesota, participated in local civic events, and tours regionally each spring.
Members of Concert Choir participate in Con Brio, for girls, or Troubadours, for boys, at no additional charge.
Members of Con Brio, for all girls in Treble and Concert Choirs, have the opportunity to sing together in this example of collaborative education. Under the direction of Elizabeth Shepley, the younger singers learn quickly from their more experienced role models; while the older girls benefit from mentoring their younger choristers.
The Troubadours is a choir for all boys in Treble and Concert Choirs. Dr. Anton Armstrong is assisted each year by a St. Olaf intern who conducts the group in the spring season. The internship has proved an outstanding educational opportunity for a number of young directors as well as the singers who benefit from this excellent collaborative effort.
